Every step of the way...

The name was chosen. And the winner is...

Katia

A totally rockin' name!!

Over the summer I started a novel called Weaving Magick. Currently I am at a word count of over 45K and I am shooting for $70-80K. It is a YA Paranormal Romance about witches, magick, and a curse. These are my three favorite things to write about. I heart witches and magick.

Because I do everything half-ass backwards, I've been working on my query letter for some time. (If I am going to query a book, I almost always write my query letter before the book is finished.)

This one is a work in progress, and I would love feedback.

Also, I need visuals, so I have a mock up cover that I will post in the future.

Without further ado, what do you guys think of Weaving Magick??? Oh, and thank you for helping me chose her name. It fits!

The Query (draft 1):

Everyone in some way has been touched by magick.

Katia Montgomery’s life is charmed. She is pretty, popular, and dating the basketball star, so then why is she so miserable? Her world felt inadequate, lonely, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something or someone is missing, which might explain why she couldn’t stop obsessing about the dark and mouthwatering Seth Nightingale. He had become an itch she is dying to scratch. There is so much more to Katia than endless parties, expensive clothes, and her social status—she is a witch.

Seth Nightingale always knew that the sassy and smart mouth Katia was destined to be his. He watched from afar as she went through boyfriends like bubble gum. Chewing them up and spitting them out, while he stood in the shadows, unable to do anything about it, knowing he shouldn’t care. Not a damn thing in his power could change their fates, and that, well, really blows, but it didn’t stop him from dreaming of her—craving her—loving her.

A dark curse hung over their heads, one cast centuries before. Now it is up to Seth to be stronger than ever and resist the one girl he can never have…or risk killing them both. That would just suck, but Katia is making it extremely difficult. She is a powerful allure that he just can’t seem to ignore.

And the curse, it’s out for blood—their blood.

Thoughts?

Oh and did I mention this book is written in duel point of views...hawt!

CHASING ANGEL Cover Reveal

It's finally here!! Can I get a whoot-whoot? The cover for CHASING ANGEL, and I am so excited to share it with you. I just love it!

And to celebrate the cover reveal, BREAKING EMMA is available FREE on amazon today and tomorrow (Oct. 22-23).

To keep the excitement going, below is also the trailer for CHASING ANGEL. It will also be up on my youtube channel @_0

I have had a ton of peeps asking me about the release date. *nipples on nails* So now that the cover is revealed, I really need to commit to a release date (I have commitment issues). I should have a date narrowed down in the next few weeks, but I aiming for the beginning of January 2014.

I know, it's too far.

I've also gotten a lot of inquiries if this will be the last book in the series... Hmm, you'll just have to wait and see. (I know, I suck.)

XOXO,

Zoning out

Hiya!

So I have been in this writing phase lately. After a long day at my 9-5, I love to come home, lock myself away, boot up my computer, plug in my earbuds, and...

Blare an obscene amount Evanescence tracks on repeat.

I almost always listen to music while I zone out and write, lately its all about Evanescence.

I absolutely love the balance of her voice and the rock. It is darkly beautiful, poetic and inspires me. The words just seem to flow so much smoother with Amy Lee singing to me.

I love all of their songs, but my absolute fav is Bring Me to Life.

What do you guys zone-out to?

Multiple POV's...yeah or nah?

Hmmm. Look at those lips.

Every blog post should start with a yummy guy, it's like having a bowl of Wheaties in the morning. My Wheaties would have to be Damon Salvatore.

Lately I have been mulling around with a new story - a Dystopian Romance. I've been playing with ideas here and there, trying to figure stuff out (stuff, I have such a way with words). I started out writing in 1st person, then I re-wrote in 3rd person, but what I think I really want to do is 1st person multiple POV's.

The two main characters are Zoeya and Dash, so I was thinking of alternating between the two of them.

Is this a good idea?
Do readers enjoy the swapping of POV's?

I personally enjoy them, but the few I have read didn't start the series out that way. It wasn't until the 4th or 5th book that the swapping of voices occurred.

Hmm... I just can't decided. I think when the time comes, I will post the intro in all three and take a poll. In the future. By future, I mean I have no idea when. I really need to keep my focus on Hunting Angel, but after that I might play around with the storyline. I am sure you will hear more about it.

If you have a preference or an opinion, let me know!

Whateves...

So I am supposed to be doing some serious writing, but I am in FULL procrastination mode.

Hey. Damon.

Yes you do.

Today is Thursday, my fav night of the week. Hmm Vampire Diaries. Stating it now that I have a serious girl-crush on Damon. Yes, I squeal a little inside and smirk every time I see him. *smirks right now*

So in celebration of my writing laziness, I thought I would post Brianna's outfit she wore to Tori's Holiday bash. Well, at least what it looks in my head.

The micro-mini jean skirt (if you can call it that)

This is a top that Aria wore from Pretty Little Liars.

And last but not least the kickass boots.

I'll be doing some more visuals from my series and also some teasers coming soon for Hunting Angel.

AMETHYST TEARS: Release Day!

Happy Valentines <3

OH YEAH! Its finally the day... Amethyst Tears, book 2 in the Luminescence Trilogy is released today.

*Big sigh*

I am so excited to finally have finished this book and get it out there for all those who have been asking about it.

Amethyst Tears will be available for $2.99 at the following for purchase:

Available Now:

Description:

Lukas is alive.
I’m talking in the flesh, and he is just as dreamy as ever.
Problem is I haven’t told Gavin. There are just no words to tell someone that your dreams… really aren’t just dreams. And I’m a sucky liar. When the two actually met, it’s a freaking disaster. Like fists flying, magic swirling and tempers flaring.
Ugh. Boys.
But Lukas and I have something in common, other than sharing dreams. Our magic has similar signatures. Nobody knows what that means. And as much as I know that it kills Gavin, Lukas is helping me control it.
The more I use my magic, the more trouble seems to find me. Loads of it. Turns out my magic might just be more dangerous than anyone bargained for.
But mostly I’m scared that my worst nightmare might come true. Gavin will give up on us.

Note: This is book 2 and picks up right where Luminescence left off. So if you haven't had a chance to read book 1, I suggest you pick it up. Luminescence is on sale for only .99 right now.

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Teen

COVER REVEAL: HUNTING ANGEL, book 2

Cover reveal for HUNTING ANGEL! This is book 2 for the Divisa series.

I very excited to dive back into Chase and Angel's story. The spicy lovebirds promise to bring witty banter, steaming make-out sessions and a whole lot of life-threating danger.

This book will be available on Amazon later this year.

I'll be posting the exact date as it gets closer.

Description: (subject to change)

Chase Winters is the bane of my existence.

But he is also the lifeline of my heart and soul. Literally.

Things are steaming up between us, and between the sheets. When his lips aren’t locked with mine, they are spewing verbal crap. Half the time I don’t know whether to kiss him or slap him. Our bond is more than just being connected, we are soulbound. The closer we get, the stronger the bond takes hold and now-a-days it seems we are inseparable.

There is a new addition to our little town, one that has all the Divisa’s on guard – a hunter has taken up residency. This hunter is not just another threat, not when their identity hits a little close to home. Strife divides my neighbor’s household surrounding this supposed enemy. Could they be friend or foe?

Chase’s number one priority in all this as always, is to keep me safe.

Regardless of what Chase says, I am not the weak and fragile human they all think I am. And there is nothing I wouldn’t do to keep Chase from harm. He might drive me up a freaking wall, but he was my pain in the ass. I wasn’t about to sit back and let some hunter fire an arrow through his heart. Not if I could help it.

Then there is the one question that is on everyone’s mind: Will the hunter kill us or save us…

LUMINESCENCE - fun stuff!

I love using visual aids when I write, along with loud, inspiring music (this week I have been on an evanescence kick).

So I thought I would share a few of the photos from Luminescence.

A few people have asked me if Holly Ridge, NC is a real place. Indeed it is. See this is their welcome to Holly Ridge sign.

I researched areas on the East Coast looking for a town that fit my criteria. The name caught my eye.

Here is a seaside view of Gavin's backyard. Not too shabby.

This is what I used to base Brianna's house. I love the huge tree and the beautiful fireplace.

It is actually a house in Tennessee, my aunt owns it ;)

This is the Riverwalk in downtown Wilmington where Gavin takes Bri on their date. Very romantic at night.

I am sure that I will be posting more pictures from the series in the near future. I already have on in mind for Amethyst Tears.

Odds & Ends...

So I have a ton of stuff to cram into this post. Here it goes...

A lot of people have been wondering when AMETHYST TEARS will be released. In my perfect world it would ready for publication in January. I have had to push the release date back further than i had originally plan. There were many factors that contributed. My newest book SAVING ANGEL was reviewed by a few publishers, although I did end up self-pub, it took some time prepping it and whatnot.

Also I am not a full-time writer. I actually have a day job (I work in insurance). Writing for me is something I do for fun. I absolutely love the entire creative process. It's an escape. If I am not writing in my free time, I'm reading. My goal was never about the money, which is why you will never pay the retail prices most published books cost. They will always be under $5 and a few times a year you can actually get them for free!

Plus if you have read one of my books then you probably know that I am the world's worst editor 0_0 No matter how many times I re-read, I will still not catch all the mistakes. I think I have gotten better, but I am actually working with a few Beta Readers so hopefully in the future the will be better edited.

I am also currently working on a 2nd edition for LUMINESCENCE (where hopefully I will clean up many of those horrid editing mistakes. I can't promise that I will get them all, but I will do my best). For those who already have a copy and would like to update to the 2nd edition when it comes out, I would be more than happy to gift you a copy. I will be making a post as soon as it is ready. Either email at jenniferlweil@gmail.com or leave a comment.

Since I first released LUMINESCENCE earlier this year I wasn't sure what I expected. This has been a fabulous learning experience, and I only hope to grow with my writing.

I thank each and every person that has helped me and given me some incredible feedback. It is greatly appreciated. And to everyone who has enjoyed one of my books, its amazing! I love the feedback, and knowing someone is as excited about a character/story as I am is priceless!

BONUS MATERIAL: LUMINESCENCE - Gavin's perspective

I thought I would post a little yummy treat today. YAY!

Bonus material that I played with after I finished Luminescence. This is a scene told from the uber hot bad boy Gavin's point-of-view. 0_0 I'm totally bugging about.

It will also be up on the Luminescence fan page on facebook today.

There will also be a second scene that I will be releasing after I finish giving it some polishing. Probably next week. This one promises to be steaming - the kind that fogs your car windows. *fans self*

Enjoy!

~Gavin~
(*Yummy*)

This godforsaken town had the damnedest weather. Ducking under the overhang on the side of the brick building, I shook the water from my dark hair. It was soaking wet from a storm that just appeared out of nowhere, pouring like buckets and lighting the sky up like the Fourth of July.
My first day of school and I already couldn’t wait to get the hell out of here. So much so that I skipped out on over half of my classes, I felt so out of place. Not one other person that I could tell was like me. In Chicago, I wasn’t such a freak. Here I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb.
Sometimes being a witch wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. Usually it was kickass. Today it just sucked.
Leaning against the worn red bricks, I took a deep breath of the rain damp air. If I hadn’t been so down in the dumps and pissed off about the move, I would have recognized the storm for what it was – a surge of power.
As it was though, I didn’t realize it until after I had an armful of a very nice surprise.
I saw her turn the corner in haste where I was hiding, and I thought great there goes my solitude. Hopefully she wouldn’t bust me for ditching, but I figured I was safe since it seemed like she was running from something.
A second later she practically ran into my arms.
Instinctually I brought my hands up to steady her, and kept us both from hitting the ground. In the moment our skin connected, a gush of electricity poured over me. More intense then I had ever felt from another witch. And I knew instantly that she was a witch, an extremely powerful witch by the shock. It was astonishing and fierce. Stunned, I couldn’t believe that this ho-dunk town had such a witch. What was she doing living in Holly Ridge?

Looking down all I saw was a waterfall of dark hair. She was small, only coming up to the top of my chin and fit perfectly against me. Lifting her head from my chest, she peered up at me from under long, thick black lashes.
She stole my breath.
Her eyes.
Her eyes had the afterglow of magic. God they were stellar.
Bright.
Crystal.
Like the finest cute amethyst.
She gaped at me, and I couldn’t help but be pleased. At least I wasn’t the only one whose jaw just about dropped to the ground. She was that gorgeous. My eyes sparkled as she continued to stare at me, and I lifted a brow.
Entranced, I watched her eyes move over each part of my face. When then those enchanting eyes landed on my mouth I couldn’t help the smirk. She didn’t have the first clue what her thorough inspection was doing to me.
Hell, after all I am a guy. A teenage guy at that. Did she think she could like at me like that and not be affected. I wasn’t made of stone.
Apparently either was she. Her eyes darkened, and my pulse jumped. Leaning in, I could smell the strawberry gloss on her lips.
Bliss.
I wanted very much to taste those lips right now.
Would they be as soft as they looked?
Would she taste like strawberries?
Most importantly, would she kiss me back?
This was a very nice treat I hadn’t expected to tumble into. Very nice indeed.
Running my thumb gently down her arm, she shuddered in my arms. Whatever spell had been between us, she broke it, stiffening in my embrace. And I was filled with disappointment. I didn’t want to let go just yet.
“What are you doing?” she demanded, her voice rough.
Someone just got her panties in a bunch. I lifted an eye at her tone. “Saving you it seems. Obviously I’m not the only one ditching last period.”
Smooth man. Way to call her out.
She took a step back, and I regretted the words immediately. Her eyes roamed over the rest of me causing my body to long for the contact of hers again. She made my blood boil with just her eyes.
“I – I don’t normally ditch class,” she stuttered cutely, running a hand through her dark hair.
I enjoyed the sound of voice frazzled, and shrugged my shoulders.
She narrowed her gaze at me. “I’ve never seen you here before. Do you even go here?” she asked.
“Umm yeah – it’s my first day,” I admitted smirking, unable to help myself.
“You ditched on your first day?” she asked like she couldn’t fathom the idea, but here she was with him, ditching class.
“Sure. It seems worth it now,” I said shoving both hands in my pockets. They itched to touch her again. “I’m Gavin.” I had hoped by giving her my name, I would get hers.
And I wasn’t disappointed. “Brianna,” she replied right before the last period bell rang, sounding the beginning of ninth period. Her eyes got wide at the sound. “I should go,” she mumbled.
I leaned back against the wall studying her. Not once did she let on that she knew what I was. It puzzled me to say the least. “I’ll be seeing you Bri.”
She mumbled an apology and then fled to the parking lot. A part of me wanted to go after her. There was so much I wanted to know, to ask her. But I just let her go.
 There was always tomorrow.
Holly Ridge just might not be such a death sentence after all and got a whole lot more intriguing. I never would have thought I’d look forward to going to school.

Cover Reveal: SAVING ANGEL (A Divisa Novel) by J.L. Weil

Cover reveal! And series reveal!

Okay, I am super excited about this new series 0_0

I haven't really said a lot about this series because it was something I was going to start after I finished the LUMINESCENCE series.

Well that plan went out the window. I couldn't get the story out of my head, and when I started just jotting down ideas I found myself halfway finished with the novel.

I couldn't focus on anything else... darn you Chase Winters.
*sigh*

SAVING ANGEL is a Older YA Paranormal Romance told from the 1st person by Angel Morgan.

This is going to be a series with at least 3 books and a novella. It is about a demons, hunters and a smart mouth girl who might have met her match in the infuriating Chase Winters.

Anticipated release date: September 2012

Luminescence is back

LUMINESCENCE is available again on all sites including B&N, Lulu, amazon, and smashword. 0_0

Yay! It's good to have it back up.

On another note I am in the editing process of Saving Angel and hopefully will be for sale beginning of September. I am halfway finished with the prequel Losing Emma and will be for sale before the end of the year.

Then I will be switching gears back to finishing Amythest Tears (book 2 of Luminescence series) and polishing the book.

Gosh it's been a extremely busy year. I can't believe how much fun I have had writing these stories.

Thanks everyone for giving them a chance! I hope you enjoy the Divisia series as much as I do. I am a little in love with Chase Winters *sigh*

Shout Out to Book Bloggers

I just wanted to say how great this whole experience has been. Before I started writing I always read. It was a huge part of my life. Other people party all night, I stayed up and read all night. I never knew that there was a huge great community of people who loved books as much as I did and blogged about them.

Let me just say that through this process I have met some unbelievably great people. And through them I have been connected with some amazing books and other authors. I wish that I had been a part of this much earlier. I guess I am a little late to the party ;(

I have learned so much about the blogging process and am looking forward to continuing meeting people through blogs, twitter and goodreads. I would love to branch out eventually and get involved with the blog tours and ARC's.

Thanks to everyone who gave this self-published author a chance!!!

xoxo

Crossroads

The last month I have been at a crossroad. Which path do I take?

I always give myself deadlines on when I need to complete a project. It's the only way I can keep myself sane and insure I get it down. Sometimes I have to shuffle things around, because nothing in life ever goes as expected.

Well the last three weeks I got so caught up in a new book a started writing. A paranormal romance that I absolute fell in love with immediately. So much so that I have written 20+ chapters and am nearing the finish. Everything else kind of fell into the background as this book just tumbled from my fingers.

I have already thought of a novella prequel that I want to finish before the end of the year, plus my second book in the Luminescence Trilogy. I know that I should be putting all my focus into complete Ameythst Tears, but this book just couldn't wait.

In the mean time, I have put my Elements series on hold as this book just grabbed ahold of me. I still plan to finish it in the near future (as the first one is already half finished) but I am going to try and focus on my current books.

My fingers are crossed that this will be the book to get published. I am so excited about the storyline and the characters. Regardless, I am very proud of this book. Any details I have, I will blog about as soon as I know.

whoooo oooooo

I just reached my first 1,000 sales. Luminescence has been out for just a little less than a month. It has been completely awesome processes, writing, editing (not my fav) and publishing my first book. I couldn't be happier with the results and the people who have encouraged and supported me - you guys are awesome!

Plus the amount of international sales have been great. This whole experienced has opened new doors I never thought I been able to reach.

I've been hard working on the 1st book in my new series Earth Bound. Which should be ready to go viral in August 2012 & then I go straight to finishing and editing Amethyst Tears (Book 2 in Luminescence). Book 2 is expected to be released Fall of 2012.

Check back for upcoming details.

Freebie and Ramblings

Today was the first day of Luminescence free on Amazon.com - a smashing success. Well for me it was. I was completely hesitant about entering my book in amazon's KDP select program. The idea of taking my book off the other sites and making it strictly available to kindle wasn't exactly idea, but in the end I think the exposure was good for the book. And I am ultimately glad that I decided to try it.

Lately I've focused so much attention on promoting and querying Luminescence (rejection can be brutal) that I need to get back into writing. I've started a new 4-book series that I am super excited about it. I think it is the best book I've written so far. It's called the Elements of Hidden Harbor, and there is a preview available to read here.

If you haven't figure it out yet I love to write fantasy - mostly really witches. I love magic! And lots and lots of romance. I am a sucker for love! I am shooting to have the new book Earth Bound released in August 2012. I wrote 5,000 words last night and am hoping to get another 5K in tonight before I go out for some line dancing.

I have also been working on book 2 Amethyst Tears but only have a few chapters complete. My heart hasn't been in the right place while I am still promoting Luminescence. But I am aiming to have it ready in October for release.

Much love from fairyland.

During the Amazon.com promotion it will still be available in paperback at createspace.com. Make sure you check it out there and grab a copy.

Thank you for everyones support!
